DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, EDITOR

Ivete is a director, producer, and editor based in Austin, Texas. She was born in Brazil and grew up in Mexico. For the past 10 years, she has been co-directing documentaries with her partner Patrick Bresnan. Their short films have premiered at Sundance, Berlin, Toronto and Cannes. Her short film SKIP DAY won the Short Film Prize at The Directors Fortnight at Cannes and was distributed by the Guardian. PAHOKEE, her feature-length debut premiered in the documentary competition at Sundance and has played over 50 festivals worldwide. It received a theatrical release in both France and the US.

PATRICK BRESNAN

DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, CINEMATOGRAPHER

Patrick is a visual artist and filmmaker. He shot and directed THE RABBIT HUNT which won over 20 festival prizes was nominated for the IDA Award and won the Cinema Eye Honor for short film. His collection of short films have received distribution from ARTE, The Atlantic, TOPIC and The Guardian. He co-directed, produced and photographed the 2019 feature PAHOKEE. He was a cinematographer on BOYS STATE which won the grand jury prize at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

PRODUCER

Tabs Breese is a LA-based producer from London. As an independent producer Tabs’ slates includes Isabel Castro’s feature MIJA (Sundance, CPH:DOX 2022), Ivete Lucas and Patrick Bresnan’s NAKED GARDENS (Tribeca, IDFA 2022) and short film THE TWINS (Aesthetica 2022) from director Zara Meerza, being extended into a feature with Bewilder Films and Diorama. Most recently, Tabs is Contributing Producer on Alison Ellwood’s LET THE CANARY SING, a biopic about Cyndi Lauper.

ROBERTO MINERVINI & DENISE PING LEE

Longtime partners and collaborators Roberto and Denise created, produced, and directed feature films THE PASSAGE, LOW TIDE, STOP THE POUNDING HEART, THE OTHER SIDE, and WHAT YOU GONNA DO WHEN THE WORLDS ON FIRE?, awarded and distributed around the world. The founders of Pulpa Films, they are currently producing the work of select documentary filmmakers who embody a vision and practice similar to their own, to further the reach and impact of direct cinema made by singular voices.

LAURENCE REYMOND

CO-PRODUCER

After cinema studies in Lyon and Paris, she worked from 2003 to 2011 in film distribution for Ad Vitam as a booking agent, and then Le Pacte as an assistant for acquisitions and later in charge of international coproductions. In 2012, she joined the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes, in charge of short films. For 3 years, she was also the programming coordinator for the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montréal. Since 2015, she has been a member of the selection committee of Entrevues-Belfort. In 2019, she co-produced and sold the film PAHOKEE to the French distributor Arizona Films.

MATT PERNICIARO

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Matthew Perniciaro was born in Smithtown, New York on October 27th, 1979 and later grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. He then attended New York University before moving to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career as a film producer. He is a founding partner at Bow and Arrow Entertainment, an independent motion picture production and finance company, founded in 2014.

Julia’s past credits include BE WATER dir Bao Nguyen (Sundance 2020) XY CHELSEA dir: Tim Travers Hawkins (Tribeca 2019), SKATE KITCHEN Dir: Crystal Moselle featuring Jaden Smith (Sundance 2018), KINGDOM OF US Dir: Lucy Cohen (LFF 2017) which won the Grierson Best Doc prize and was nominated for Outstanding Debut at BAFTA 2018, TROPHY (Sundance 2017) Dir: Shaul Schwarz which won an Emmy for Outstanding Nature Documentary , ALL THESE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS (Sundance 2016) which won Best Director at the festival and THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS ( SXSW 2014) Dir: Edward Lovelace and James Hall. Before setting up Dorothy Street Pictures Julia worked in the film department at Pulse Films (AMERICAN HONEY, 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH) running their feature doc slate.

SHAKIRA REFOS

Shakira is an educator from The Netherlands who joined the California Film Institute’s Education Department by way of the Sarasota Film Festival, Sundance Institute and Tribeca Festival. With a deep passion for storytelling Shakira attributes her drive for community, justice and common sense from the cultures of her Mother and Father hailing from Suriname and Trinidad respectively. Her career has been dedicated to empowering young independent thinkers through the exploration of art history and creative expression—prioritizing equitable praxis through engagements with film as well as demystifying the path for BIPOC students to becoming film fest administrators and curators. You’ll often hear her shouting “WE NEED MORE BLACK PROGRAMMERS!!” from the rooftops of her current home and office in the Bay Area, CA to anyone who will listen.
